Interplanetary Shock (or CME Arrival)
Catalog: M2M_CATALOG
Location: Earth
Event Time: 2026-09-07T06:07Z ( SOLAR-1: MAG )
All Detecting Spacecrafts:
SOLAR-1: MAG
ACE: SWEPAM
ACE: MAG
SOLAR-1: SWiPS
IMAP: MAG
IMAP: SWAPI
Activity ID: 2026-09-07T06:07:00-IPS-001 (version 2)
Quality of ICME Signature: 1 (lacks some signatures)
Note: Characterized by an amplification of magnetic field components with Btotal increasing from around 4nT at 2026-09-07T06:07Z to 17.4nT by 2026-09-07T10:47Z. An increase in speed is observed starting around 2026-09-07T06:06Z, increasing from ~340 km/s to ~560 km/s by 2026-09-07T22:38Z. Additional increases in temperature, from ~50,000 K at 2026-09-07T06:07Z to ~943,000 K at 2026-09-07T22:36Z, and density, from ~11 p/cc at 2026-09-07T06:07Z to 32.4 p/cc at 2026-09-07T12:38Z, are also observed. This signature is preceded by the likely arrival of CME: 2026-09-02T10:24Z, observed starting at 2026-09-06T17:38Z. This signature is associated with the likely combined arrival of CME: 2026-09-05T11:09Z and CME: 2026-09-07T18:09Z, likely mixed in with the arrival of a corotating interaction region preceding a coronal hole high speed stream. The high speed stream signature is observed starting later around 2026-09-07T23:55Z, characterized by an increase in velocity, from 450 km/s at 2026-09-07T23:55Z to ~615 km/s by 2026-09-08T05:50Z, and an increase in temperature, from ~264,000 K at 2026-09-08T00:09Z to ~586,000 K at 2026-09-08T00:41Z. Following examination of additional solar wind data, the start time has been updated from 2026-09-07T18:25Z to 2026-09-07T06:07Z.
